My name is Shanice Fleming, I grew up in Jamaica, Queens and worked in New York City as a cook and chef for ten years, over which time I realized that I wanted to be more impactful with my labor and my relationship to the earth and people around me.
I moved upstate and started farming seasonally in hopes that I would gain the skills to grow food and provide my service in a deeper way.
During my first spring farming I instantly fell in love with flowers and found my calling. I loved the sound of the bees pollinating around me and how much joy it brought me watching the flowers I seeded turn the landscape around me into a feeding ground for the local pollinators. I have also gained a lot of design experience along the way working in various floral design spaces in the winter months these beautiful organisms are now my main artistic medium.
Currently I am operating Queenz cut flowers under a CSA model which will breathe life back into the community of Troy and the capital region again in the spring of 2023.
I have secured land access for this and plan to grow 1/4 of an acre of flowers. This will ensure that we will have a diverse variety of bouquets and finally be able to offer small scale design work along with diy bridal buckets and also dried flower arrangement and wreaths for the fall. I will also be growing medicinal herbs and will be creating various good from them.
